Community Fitness:
Port Harcourt is a typical African City where almost all social interactions are laced with food and drinks weather it be hanging out at the local bar or in a all female meeting .Our meals are carbohydrate because of the amount of labor required in times past in farming or fishing community. Mechanization has made life easier but we have not set aside the diet and quantity of food prevalent in a farming or fishing community. Thus obesity ,diabetes ,high blood pressure,cardio related problems and stroke are on the rise maybe due to our sedentary lifestyles.
On my return to Port Harcourt in 2015 , I encouraged the public through videos and the social media to invite people to the stadium to work out. A lot has happened today in the city from corporate gyms in different areas of the city to special groups ranging from dance by Akalugwu to Aerobics & Taboo by Braide : when Steady Idisi invited me to join a small group of people who run on Sundays, i joined. Today Steady Run is incorporated where i double as a Trustee and lead the technicals about the workout: today membership of Steady Run Group averages 400 people.
