Eugene Irefa Abels hails from two oil producing communities of Bassambiri and Finima, he lives in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. He is an alumnus of Okrika Grammar School Okrika and a graduate of Political Science and Administration from the University of Port Harcourt in Choba.
Eugene Abels has circa 30 years cognate experience spanning over manufacturing, merchant / commercial banking and Public sector. He is currently a Consultant Partner in Seal Transaction Advisors an asset management partner to AMCON.
He served in an agency in the office of Nigeria Presidency known as the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta & Presidential Amnesty Program (OSAPND) as Special Assistant –Data Management, Banking & Financial Matters and Head of the Education and Support Services desks.
His banking career spanned over United Bank for Africa, Skye Bank Plc, Prudent Bank Plc, Access Bank Plc and Crown Merchant Bank Limited. In Belhope Plastics Industries Limited, Port Harcourt, Eugene Abels was head of Procurement Manager, Eugene Abels while on national assignment won an award while serving at the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs (Inspectorate)1986-1988 Assistant Secretary (NYSC),
His Interests span over the Media, People, Worship, and Politics. He is also a Public Commentator and a social media buff and a regular commentator on the print and electronic media.
He currently serves as a trustee on the boards of 1st Association of Nigeria, Steady Run Port Harcourt.
He is involved in diverse community oriented efforts from mobilizing blood donors for the local bank, to feeding indigent people, and using sports for community fitness and bonding, to fighting the scourge of kidnapping in Rivers state.
Eugene Abels has only one wife and three children.
